WFA: Google lancerer AI-mærkning i EU
Flg er modtaget fra WFA (13.07.2026):
Google has announced new AI transparency features, introducing disclosures and labels for AI-generated ads. The changes are intended to help advertisers comply with emerging transparency requirements while also helping people “better understand the ads they see”.
Context: WFA research shows that over 75% of brands are now using AI-generated or AI-enhanced content in their marketing. But as regulators introduce AI transparency requirements around the world, marketers are grappling with one key question: when, where and how should the use of AI in advertising creative be disclosed? In the absence of harmonised legal guidance, platform policies are likely to play an increasingly important role in shaping industry practice.
Google’s new AI transparency features: A new “How this ad was made” section within My Ad Center, available globally across Search YouTube and Discover, now allows users to see whether an ad was created or edited using AI through a “created or edited with AI” label. Users can access it by tapping the three dots or info button on ads. The disclosure in My Ad Center will appear in two scenarios:
- Google-generated creative: For creative assets generated using Google’s own AI advertising tools (e.g. auto-generated assets in Performance Max, AI Max, Demand Gen, etc), Google will automatically apply the AI label within My Ad Center.
- Third-party AI-generated creative: For creative assets created using third-party tools (e.g. OpenAI, Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, etc) and uploaded to Google’s advertising platforms, advertisers will be able to opt-in to disclose AI use in the new “How this ad was made” section through a new control mechanism.
Google notes that where required by local rules (including the EU, India and New York State), a visible AI label “may also appear directly on the ad, either automatically or when an advertiser uses the opt-in control”. Google has not provided further detail on when these on-ad labels will be applied or which uses of AI will trigger them.
